Day of Mindfulness | Art as Meditation: Reflecting Deeply on Thich Nhat Hanh’s Calligraphy

  • Parkallen Community League Hall 6510 111 Street Northwest Edmonton, AB, T6H 5W2 Canada (map)

Please come and join us for a beautiful day of extended mindfulness practice. We will have an opportunity to deeply water the roots of our mindfulness practice and reflect on Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s calligraphy - known as the fruits of his meditations and embodying insights from the mindfulness practice. Thay’s profound calligraphies are a bell of mindfulness, reminding us to return to the present moment and to be in touch with the mindfulness that is alive within us.

We will be sharing in periods of sitting, walking, a formal meal, mindful movement, listening to a Dharma talk and Dharma sharing.

We will also have a very special opportunity to explore the practice of calligraphy. Calligraphy is art as meditation. Thay explains that the whole cosmos comes together in a piece of art, and that when we create calligraphy, we must be present and free.

Please bring a bagged vegetarian lunch and your own cloth napkin.
Tea will be provided.
